Student Senate weekly update

Submitted by Blake Phillips

Good morning, Wildcats!

Student Senate met on Thursday, Oct. 14. During the meeting, several pieces of legislation were approved and were read for introduction.

First, Student Senate passed resolutions commending Monty Putnam for becoming a K-State fan and approving new Student Senators. Student Senate then voted to allocate funds to the Creative Arts Therapies students and to the Associated General Contractors of America. Next, Student Senate approved the transfer of funds from the Student Centered Tuition Enhancements Committee reserve account to the Educational Opportunity Fund Committee reserve account.

Student Senate introduced legislation to provide funds to the Sexuality and Gender Alliance. Legislation was also introduced to change the name of the former Privilege Fee Committee to the Student Services Fee Committee, change the process of how elections violations are handled, decrease the Student Design Services Student Services Fee allocation by 30% and recommend various action steps to K-State regarding sexual violence. If you have any questions about any of these pieces of legislation, please contact Speaker of the Student Senate, Blake Phillips, at bphillips@k-state.edu

Student Senate will reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. All are welcome to attend in person or can watch live on YouTube at the K-State SGA YouTube channel.
