Student Senate weekly update

Submitted by Blake Phillips

Hello, Wildcats!

Student Senate met for the final time this school year on April 29. During the meeting, the senate passed several important pieces of legislation.

The meeting began with the passing of a commendation to Charlie and Debbie Morrison, who recently donated $10.2 million toward student well-being initiatives at K-State. After a series of reports, each college caucus, the group of senators serving each college, elected caucus leaders.

Student Senate then voted to pass revisions to the constitution and by-laws regarding the judicial branch, a transfer of $2 million to compensate for shortfalls in the campus privilege fee budget, a resolution requesting that the university disregard 2020-2021 GPAs for scholarship renewal, allocations to academic competition teams for fiscal year 2022, and a recommendation to K-State to honor election day as a university holiday.

Student Senate will begin meeting in Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union in the fall. The first meeting of the 2021-2022 school year will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 2
