K-State Theatre releases adult comedy holiday podcast: 'HO HO NO!'

Submitted by Professor Jerry Jay Cranford

The latest offering from the "Kansas Theatre Works" podcast is "HO HO NO!" It is currently on all podcast servers and was directed by Associate Professor Jerry Jay Cranford with sound editing by Assistant Professor James Kyle Davis and stage-managed by student Ali Davids.

"HO HO NO!" was written by K-State Theatre alumni Cody Ray O'Hare, Teva Spencer, Jonah Ericson and Blake Cordell and current seniors Michael Duncan and Ceslie Parker-Waller. It can also be found on the "Kansas Theatre Works" website

In 2016, K-State's Writers' Room was tasked with creating a Holiday Senior Showcase as a one-night-only performance for the theatre department. The plan was to create scenes informed by various holiday songs. The result proved a hilarious adult evening of "SNL"-type comedy sketches written by six of the members and performed by ten seniors. When the "Kansas Theatre Works" podcast season was being planned, it was suggested to revisit "HO HO NO!" as a possible selection. After reconnecting with the writers and slightly reworking the pieces for the new format, this version of the material was born. Writer Cordell created one new piece based on "I'll be Home for Christmas," focused on our current situation where no one can go home and gatherings occur via Zoom.

Light the fire, wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and sip your eggnog, mulled wine, spiced cider or hot cocoa while you laugh along with us for this R-rated presentation of "HO HO NO!"
