Nora Springer to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar

Submitted by Gail Eyestone

Nora Springer, assistant professor of diagnostic medicine and pathobiology, will present "Building a Better Model: Utilizing Natural Disease in Dogs to Enhance Translation of Basic Cancer Research" at the next Anatomy and Physiology Seminar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, via Zoom.

Springer is the coordinator of the veterinary clinical pathology residency program. She is committed to training the next generation of academic veterinary pathologists and research scientists. Her research centers on the tumor microenvironment, particularly how interactions between extracellular matrix and tumor or inflammatory/immune cells guide cancer development and progression. She is especially interested in the link between obesity and cancer, specifically how structural changes of extracellular matrix that occur in obese adipose tissue predispose individuals to cancer development.
