Three fraternities take top prize internationally

Submitted by Megan Eberhart

The Interfraternity and Panhellenic community at K-State took home more than 50 awards from their international organizations this year, with three fraternities being named the best chapter of their organization in the nation.

At its biennial convention, Alpha Gamma Rho won the Maynard H. Coe Chapter Efficiency Award for maintaining a high level of consistent chapter operations. Delta Upsilon won the top honor, the Sweepstakes Award, for the eighth time in the past nine years. After four years of being a finalist, Sigma Alpha Epsilon took home the Fraternity Zeal Award this summer.

Seven chapters were also given the highest recognition possible, without winning their organization's best chapter award:

  • Acacia was named Outstanding Chapter of the Year.
  • Alpha Delta Pi received the Three Diamond Chapter Award.
  • Alpha Xi Delta received the Order of the Quill and Xi Achievement awards.
  • Beta Theta Pi received the Knox and Sisson awards.
  • Delta Chi received the Award of Excellence (after four years of winning the President’s Cup).
  • Pi Kappa Alpha received the Raymond L. Orians Chapter Excellence Award.
  • Sigma Chi received the J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Award.

Chris Hupe and John Hatfield were each awarded with Chapter Advisor of the Year for their international organizations, Phi Gamma Delta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon respectively.

While awards capture success at one point in time, we are proud of our chapters' commitment to improvement and consistency, and hope to see IFC fraternities and PHC sororities continue to raise the bar for their members and the collegiate experience.
