K-State finalizes tuition and fees, refund policies for fall semester

As preparations continue for the fall semester, Kansas State University is keeping tuition flat. The campus privilege fee, academic infrastructure fee and specific college fees also will remain flat. Online fees are being reduced.
These updates are part of a fall semester that will prioritize the health and safety of the K-State community. The semester will include a combination of face-to-face in-person classes; online classes; and hybrid or blended classes that combine in-person and online education.
Students also will receive prorated refunds from Housing and Dining Services and Parking Services if the university moves to remote operations.
"In these difficult times when so many of our students and families face significant financial pressures, K-State is committed to keeping the costs of education as low as possible. We hope that this will allow all of our students to continue to make progress toward their K-State degrees." said Charles Taber, provost and executive vice president.
On Wednesday, July 22, students will begin seeing tuition and fees changes in KSIS, the K-State Student Information System.
Here are more details of K-State updates related to tuition, fees and refunds.
Tuition
There are no tuition increases for the 2020-2021 academic year, as finalized at the June meeting of the Kansas Board of Regents. Face-to-face/in-person classes and hybrid/blended classes will be charged at the 2019-2020 out-of-state and in-state tuition rates. Online tuition rates also remain the same, which is the in-state tuition rate for all students.

Fees
For the 2020-2021 academic year, the campus privilege fee and academic infrastructure fees also will remain flat and will be charged at the 2019-2020 rate. These fees will be charged for in-person and blended/hybrid courses, which is consistent with how fees have been charged in previous years. The campus privilege fee will continue to be assessed on a per-credit-hour basis and capped at six credit hours of enrollment.
Online fees will be reduced for the 2020-2021 academic year. A single online fee of $70 per credit hour will be charged for all online courses, which uses the model that was adopted for summer 2020 courses. The single online fee replaces any previously charged Global Campus and college online fees.
Several colleges have differential college fees, which will remain flat and will be charged at the 2019-2020 rate. These college fees will be assessed for all courses taught by the college.
Fees will be charged following the same practice as previous years. A student who takes only online courses will not pay the campus privilege fee or academic infrastructure fee. A student who only takes face-to-face/in-person or blended/hybrid courses will not pay online fees. A student who takes a mix of face-to-face/in-person, blended/hybrid and online courses will pay the appropriate fees per student credit hour.

Tuition and fees refunds
A student acknowledges responsibility for full payment of tuition and relevant fees by beginning the semester enrolled in face-to-face/in-person, blended/hybrid and/or online courses. No tuition or fees refunds will be issued if the need arises to temporarily teach or finish the semester remotely.
Other refunds
Students will receive prorated refunds from Housing and Dining Services and Parking Services if the university moves to fully remote operations and residence halls must close. Residence halls would remain open for students approved to remain on campus because of special circumstances.
