Learn more about K-State’s Open/Alternative Textbook Initiative

Submitted by Cailin Riley

K-State will hold several online information sessions regarding the Open/Alternative Textbook Initiative. Attendees will learn more about the program and how they can get involved.

The Open/Alternative Textbook Initiative provides grants between $2,000-$5,000 for instructors to adopt or create open educational resources for their classroom. The initiative aims to make education more affordable for K-State students. Since being launched in 2013, it has saved students nearly $5 million.

The initiative will be the beneficiary of the next All In for K-State Campaign, which will allow even more grants to be awarded to K-State professors. Instructors are encouraged to submit applications by April 20 at noon to receive consideration. The earlier priority deadline has been dropped due to the need for faculty to work on the transition to remote teaching during the past week.

The following sessions will be available via Zoom.

  • March 31 at 9:30 a.m.
  • April 6 at 3:30 p.m.
  • April 14 at 12:30 p.m.

You can find more information about the sessions on our event page.
