Annual Arts and Sciences Student Diversity Summit today

Submitted by Marta Stetsiv

Join us for the annual Arts and Sciences Student Diversity Summit from 3-5 p.m. today, Thursday, April 4, in Town Hall of the Leadership Studies Building. The summit is hosted by students for students and is open to everyone.

The summit will include student speakers, Q&A panel and a multicultural organization browsing fair. We will announce information about a recently developed Intercultural Competence Certificate program offered through the American ethnic studies department, as well as award the Doug Benson Award to this year's student recipient.

The goal of this event is to provide an outlet for students to share their experiences and concerns about diversity and inclusion and to provide a safe environment for students to engage in conversations with their peers.

We will have a free Diversity Summit T-shirt giveaway on a first-come, first-served basis for students who stay for at least part of the event. The event is come-and-go, so stay as long as you are able to. We ask the audience to engage and ask questions. Refreshments will also be provided at the event.

The following is a schedule of events:

  • 3-3:30 p.m. student speakers.
  • 3:30-4 p.m. student panel.
  • 4-4:30 p.m. more student speakers.
  • 4:30-5 browsing fair.
