Engage in conversation about diversity with your peers

Submitted by Marta Stetsiv

The annual Arts and Sciences Student Diversity Summit will take place from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.

The event is hosted by students for students and open to everyone. The summit will include student speakers, Q&A panel and a multicultural organization browsing fair.

Yolanda Broyles-González, university distinguished professor of American ethnic studies, also will present the recently developed intercultural competence certificate program offered through the American ethnic studies department.

The goal of this event is to provide an outlet for students to share their experiences and concerns about diversity and inclusion, and engage in conversations with their peers.

Free T-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for students who stay for at least part of the event. The event will be come-and-go, so stay as long as you are able to. We ask the audience to engage and ask questions. Refreshments will also be provided for the event.

The following is a schedule of events:

  • 3-3:30 p.m. student speakers.
  • 3:30-4 p.m. student panel.
  • 4-4:30 p.m. more student speakers.
  • 4:30-5 p.m. browsing fair.
