Kansas Geological Survey's Franciszek 'Franek' Hasiuk to present seminar today

Franciszek "Franek" Hasiuk, associate scientist at Kansas Geological Survey, will present a geology seminar at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in 213 Thompson Hall. The title of his presentation is "3D Printing the Future of Geology: From Touchable Terrain to Photocopying rocks."

Abstract: Explore the possibilities of combining 3D printing with geological research. 3D printers allow a dramatic change in how geoscientists can communicate their science. Movement from 2D maps or quasi-3D computer visualization to 3D-printed geological models that are naturally intuitive and interesting to nongeologists.
