Participants needed for nutrition bar study

Submitted by Trevor J. Steele

K-State researchers are recruiting participants for a study examining the impact of resistant starch on metabolic health. All visits will take place at the Physical Activity and Nutrition Clinical Research Consortium, or PAN-CRC, on the third floor of the Lafene Health Center building.

Participants in the study will learn about their health and receive benefits:

  • Body fat using a DEXA scan — valued at approximately $250
  • Fasting glucose, cholesterol, hemoglobin, and hematocrit
  • Insulin sensitivity
  • Typical physical activity levels
  • Nutrition information regarding your typical food intake via a food recall
  • $140 cash compensation

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 60; living in Riley County; willing to consume a starch snack bar and glucose beverage at multiple visits; and available to commit approximately 18 hours of their time over seven separate visits. Twelve spots are currently available.
