Pre-Optometry Club welcomes Southern College of Optometry to campus

Students interested in an optometry career are invited to the Pre-Optometry Club meeting, where an admissions representative from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in 204 K-State Student Union.

Optometrists are independent primary health care professionals who improve vision and quality of life; examine, diagnose and treat diseases, injuries and disorders of the visual system; and prescribe medications, low vision rehabilitation, vision therapy, contact lenses and perform certain surgical procedures. The average salary for optometrists in the upper Midwest is $156,091.
