Sponsorship funds still available from the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies

Submitted by Sarah McGreer Hoyt

The Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies on the fourth floor of Hale Library offers sponsorship funding to campus and community programs that engage with themes of multiculturalism and diversity.

Funds remain available for events scheduled for this spring and summer. Request sponsorship support now through our form at the Dow Center website.

Sponsorship recipients are expected to correctly recognize the Dow Center's contribution on promotional materials. Failure to do so could compromise an organization's eligibility for support in future semesters.

Curious about the types of programs the Dow Center has sponsored in the past? They include events like these:

  • Jonathan Paul Higgins gave a lecture about racial and multicultural inclusiveness in the LGBT community at the invitation of the LGBT Resource Center.
  • As part of the community's annual celebration Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the First Congregational United Church of Christ hosted a Roots of Justice Anti-Racism Analysis Training.
  • Dr. Renaisa S. Anthony, a physician and health equity scholar, presented a lecture, "A Dialogue on Health Disparities and Actions to Achieve Health Equity" for National Public Health Week.
  • The American ethnic studies department hosted filmmaker Quyên Nguyen-Le, who screened two works, "Queer Vietnameseness" and "Nước."

Sponsorship funds, which are granted at the discretion of the dean of Libraries, are just one way the Dow Center helps deliver relevant programs and services that advance meaningful understanding and dialog regarding multiculturalism and diversity.

Additional funds will be made available for events during the 2018-19 academic year. For more information, contact Tara Coleman at tcoles@k-state.edu or 785-532-7414.
