KSDB wins 12 awards from Kansas Association of Broadcasters

Submitted by LeAndre Carthen

Students at 91.9 KSDB Manhattan were awarded by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters in 11 categories with a total of 12 awards. Several Kansas State University students were recognized for their efforts in student broadcasting.

"It's an honor to be recognized," said James Copeland, senior in mass communications. "I think KSDB has done especially well in multiple awards ceremonies recently and this year is no exception."

Copeland, also KSDB programs director, was recognized with two first-place awards for Public Affairs Program and Complete Newscast 4 Days or More. The programs submitted in these categories were "Open Mic" and "Good Morning Manhattan," respectively.

Other first-place awards went to Blane Worley, graduate student, for the radio station's Streaming Promotion Announcement and Monica Brich, senior in mass communications, for Station Website.

"I see how much work everyone does for the station, so being recognized and awarded for it is really amazing," Brich said.

Brich is the website director for Manhattan's student-run radio station. For a complete list of second-place and honorable mention student awards, please visit ksdbfm.org/awards/.

The awards were judged by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support the educational activities and to promote free over-the-air broadcasting for the purpose of enhancing the success of Kansas broadcasters and helping them better serve the people of Kansas.
