K-State students in the Division of Biology and horticulture and natural resources department were recognized for their outstanding research and service in wildlife and fisheries biology at the recent Kansas Natural Resources conference, taking home all student-level awards.

From the state chapter of The Wildlife Society, Mary Kate Wilcox, undergraduate student in the Division of Biology, won the Best Student Presentation Award and Max Larreur, graduate student in horticulture and natural resources, won the Best Student Poster Presentation.

From the state chapter of the American Fisheries Society, Garrett Hopper, graduate student in the Division of Biology, won the Otto Tiemeier-Frank Cross Graduate Student Scholarship, and Tanna Fanshier, undergraduate student in the Division of Biology, won the Harold Klaassen Undergraduate Student Scholarship.

Rachel McNemee, undergraduate student in the Division of Biology, was awarded the Robert J. Robel Memorial Award, a student wildlife award presented in honor of the late K-State professor in the Division of Biology.

The Kansas Natural Resources Conference is an annual event that attracts ecologists, natural-resource managers, and conservation groups from all across Kansas. This year, the event was hosted in Manhattan and showcased conservation-related research from across the state. The theme was "Conservation Delivery in Changing Times" and the presentations and workshops were attended by hundreds of agency, university and nonprofit biologists.
