Powercat Financial accepting applications for peer financial counselors or Student Advisory Board members

Submitted by Jodi Kaus

K-State's Powercat Financial is accepting applications to be a peer financial counselor or Powercat Financial Student Advisory Board member.

Student Advisory Board members help market Powercat Financial and create fun campus events about financial literacy like "Thrifty Gifting," and "Spring Break! NOT Spring Broke!" Any major may apply to the Powercat Financial Student Advisory Board.

Peer financial counselors provide individual counseling and financial presentations to students after a semesterlong training session which is an on-campus internship. Applicants must be in a financial-related major and should demonstrate an interest in increasing the financial literacy of fellow students and educating others by sharing in knowledge learned through the process of training and their coursework. This position comes with commitment and responsibility as well as great experience and exposure for the counselor along the way. Counselors will receive compensation once training requirements are complete. Approximately 12 students serve as peer financial counselors during an academic year.

Applications and information about these two Powercat Financial student involvement opportunities can be obtained on the Powercat Financial website. Applications for both positions will be due to the Powercat Financial office in 302 K-State Student Union by March 1.

Please call Jodi Kaus, Powercat Financial director, at 785-532-2889 if you have any questions about these exceptional student opportunities.
