Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Barry Flinchbaugh

Barry Flinchbaugh, professor emeritus of agricultural economics at Kansas State University, will discuss the outlook for agriculture policy and economics under the new presidential administration as part of the Upson Lecture Series at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. This event is open to the public and free to attend.

Flinchbaugh will deliver the lecture "Ag Policy in the Trump Administration," which will address the current state of the agriculture industry and agricultural economy. He will provide his thoughts on the benefits and challenges agriculturalists will face in the future.

Flinchbaugh joined Kansas State University in 1971. He has given lectures throughout Kansas and the nation on agricultural and economic policy. He has served on numerous committees charged with creating change in agricultural policy, including as chairman of the Commission on 21st Century Production Agriculture, which was authorized in the 1996 U.S. Farm Bill. Flinchbaugh also has participated in two Japanese trade missions.

This is the 14th installment in the Upson Lecture Series, endowed by the College of Veterinary Medicine classes of 1962 and 1966. Food for Thought, a student organization at Kansas State University, organizes the lecture series. The event will be live-tweeted using the hashtag #ULSAgPolicy. A video recording of the lecture will be available following the event.
