Inline hockey club qualifies for nationals in Salt Lake City
The K-State Inline Hockey Club was formed in 1998. We have competed in the Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League, a division of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association, since that time. The association is made up of seven regions and approximately 150 college teams. The top 16 teams nationwide in our division have been invited to compete for the national championship title April 10-15 in Salt Lake City. Our last appearance at the national tournament was in 2002. Our best finish was the final four in 2001. It has been a long, hard road to get back into this tournament, but we have finally made it.
We received our invitation due to our good regular season work. We finished with a record of 12 wins, 2 losses and 4 ties in regional play. This was good enough to net us second place in the Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League.
We look forward to a great tournament. There will be a three-game pool play tournament to determine seeding and then a single elimination tournament to crown a national champion.
Go Cats!
