Call for presentations, registration for Great Plains Network's annual meeting

Submitted by Rosanna Vail

Registration and presentation submissions are open for the 2012 Great Plains Network's annual meeting, “The Nature of the University in a Highly Connected World,” May 30–June 1 in Kansas City, Mo.

The Great Plains Network brings together faculty, staff and graduate students from more than 20 universities in the region to support research and education through advanced networking technology and cyberinfrastructure. With scientific data doubling every year, issues surrounding the access, use and curation of data sets are of increasing importance. The evolving data-rich and research-driven environment poses new challenges and provides new opportunities in the sharing, review and publication of research results.

Become part of the dialogue by submitting a presentation or poster session. Topics may include recent developments in networking and cyberinfrastructure, or the evolving nature of the university in the areas of education, research, technical challenges, changing roles and responsibilities for faculty/staff, changes in organizational structure and dynamics, coping with change, or the library in the 21st century. The deadline to submit presentations is April 1.

Register to attend the annual meeting at http://www.dce.k-state.edu/conf/great-plains-network. Kansas State University is a member institution of the Great Plains Network.

This year’s meeting is co-sponsored by the Greater Western Library Alliance, comprised of 31 leading research university libraries in 17 states, with a focus on resource sharing, digitization, and ensuring the preservation and access of scholarly research and data.
