Considering a graduate degree in a STEM field? You're invited to Consider Graduate School Day Nov. 7

Submitted by Bethany Swinney

Are you a junior or senior undergraduate student considering a graduate degree in an engineering, science or math field?

We invite you to Consider Graduate School Day. Spend the day at Kansas State University with other students from Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri and find answers to the following questions:

  • How do I pick the right graduate school?
  • How do I make my application successful?
  • How do I succeed once I arrive?
  • How do I balance my professional and personal life?

The day will include sessions with faculty from electrical and civil engineering, and mathematics as well as lab tours in electrical engineering, physics and biological and agricultural engineering.

Lunch will be provided by the Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, or KAWSE, and feature a presentation by Beth Montelone, associate dean for research in the College of Arts & Sciences and professor of biology.

The day will end with a Q & A session with current graduate students in civil engineering, electrical engineering, biology and geography.

Registration is required and the deadline is Oct. 26. All participants will be entered into a drawing to win an iPad.

This event is being organized as part of electrical engineering professor Caterina Scoglio's National Science Foundation award, "Spreading Processes over Multilayer and Interconnected Networks," and with the help of the Office of Engineering Research and Graduate Programs.
