Your Voice: A Stronger K-State

Submitted by Ruth Dyer and Thomas Vontz

After more than a year of planning, the University Climate Survey Committee is pleased to announce the opening of the University Climate Survey on Tuesday, October 14. All K-State faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate.

You will be able to access the survey online or complete it using a printed format if you are unable to access the online version. Paper copies will be available at 108 and 109 Dykstra Hall, 202 Holton Hall and the 2nd floor entrance of Hale Library. Requests for additional paper copies can be submitted to Ruth Dyer, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Computers at Hale Library and the university computing labs will be available for use to complete the survey.

Climate is an overarching feature of every institution. It consists of the attitudes, behaviors, standards and practices of people who comprise K-State. Every person at K-State helps to shape our climate and has unique perceptions of that climate.

The project aims to identify positive aspects of our climate, uncover challenges facing members of our community, develop strategic initiatives to build on successes and address challenges, and establish a baseline for periodic follow-up surveys to measure changes in our climate resulting from actions taken. The survey results will be available to the university in spring 2015.

We encourage you to take 20–30 minutes to help us understand the current climate on our campuses. Your answers will remain confidential. The results will be reported in group form only, and you will not be identifiable as an individual. Also, please note that your participation in the project is voluntary. This research has been reviewed and approved by the Kansas State University Institutional Review Board.

The link to the survey will be made available October 14, and more information about the project is available at k-state.edu/climatesurvey. If you have additional questions or concerns about the survey, please contact Ruth Dyer, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, or Professor Tom Vontz.
