K-State ASAP Program

Submitted by Julie Gibbs

Kansas State University is committed to the health and safety of all students. The university's Alcohol and Sexual Assault Prevention, or ASAP, program is using the Think About It series of online educational training modules from Campus Clarity to address substance use, sexual harassment and sexual violence. Think About It modules cover these topics through interactive educational content and scenarios specially designed for undergraduate, graduate and adult students — undergraduates ages 22 or older.

The program is designed to help students and those around them make healthy decisions, understand state laws and university policies and be aware of university and community resources. Training also includes information on how to request university assistance, how to safely intervene to prevent harm and how to report concerning or suspicious behaviors.

The Think About It training is required for all students each academic year, which starts July 1. The course allows you to work at your own pace from any computer with an internet connection. You can leave and return to the course at any time, and when you return, it will open to the page where you left off. If you have not already finished it for this year, please do so as soon as you can.

The course promotes a healthier and safer environment for everyone. It also includes information on how to recognize, report and prevent sexual violence. K-State students rate the training positively at 4.3 out of a 5-point scale, with 5 being highest.

The content of the sexual violence education portion of Think About It may be triggering for some individuals. Please direct triggering concerns and requests for alternative student training options to the K-State Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE, at 785-532-6444 or email ksucare@k-state.edu.

The topics covered by Think About It training can be sensitive and challenging to explore but are important to address in our community. Students may visit k-state.edu/asap for more information about the program or call K-State Health Promotion at 785-532-6595.
