The landscape architecture and regional & community planning department in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University announces the Landscape Travels Award. The prestigious award, made possible through the generous contribution of Chloe Gillespie, a 2023 distinguished graduate in landscape architecture, aims to provide crucial support for up to two students annually within the landscape architecture program.

The award is specifically designated to aid students in purchasing equipment and covering travel costs associated with their projects.

The Landscape Travels Award signifies a commitment to fostering innovation, exploration and practical experience within the field of landscape architecture. By offering financial support to students, the award aims to empower them to pursue ambitious projects and broaden their understanding of landscape design and planning.

Key features of the Landscape Travels Award include:

  • Financial support: Recipients of the award will receive 60% of the total award upon selection. The remaining 40% will be disbursed upon successful completion of the project.
  • Project focus: The award is intended to support projects that demonstrate creativity, innovation and a dedication to advancing the principles of landscape architecture.

Gillespie's commitment to the field and her desire to support the next generation of landscape architects have been instrumental in establishing this award.

"We are deeply grateful for Chloe's generous support in establishing the Landscape Travels Award," said Huston Gibson, head of the landscape architecture and regional & community planning department. "This award will provide invaluable opportunities for our students to further their education and contribute meaningfully to the field of landscape architecture."

The Landscape Travels Award reflects the college's ongoing commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation and promoting excellence in landscape architecture education.

The landscape architecture and regional & community planning department is dedicated to preparing students to address the complex challenges facing communities and environments worldwide. With a focus on sustainability, resilience and social equity, its programs empower students to become leaders in the field of landscape architecture and regional planning.
