K-State to host statewide percussion event

Submitted by the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance

On Saturday, Feb. 17, the K-State student chapter of the Percussive Arts Society will host Drum Days, a statewide event sponsored by the Kansas chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.

Featured guest artists include Matthew Coley and Jonathan Milke as well as percussion ensembles from Blue Valley West High School, Junction City High School and Fort Hays State University. K-State percussion ensembles will also perform at the event.

Coley is an award-winning marimba soloist and leads Heartland Marimba, a chamber ensemble with artistry, outreach and education at its core. Milke is a percussionist with the U.S. Army's D.C.-based band, Pershing's Own.

On-site registration will be available for Percussive Arts Society members and non-members.
