Union Program Council hosts 2013 Little Apple Music Festival July 13

Experience a night full of diverse music and great company at the 2013 Little Apple Music Festival with up and coming Midwest native country act County Road 5.

Joining County Road 5 at the festival on Saturday, July 13 at Larry Norvell Band Shell in City Park are blues musician Walkin’ Cane; jazz artist Joseph Vincelli; indie singer/songwriter Deer, Daniel and local favorites ID Fort Riley Jazz Combo. In addition to the line up at City Park, Bluestem Bistro will once again host a jazz brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, July 14 featuring The Cheap Ninjas. The free annual festival is part of the city’s Arts in the Park series and also includes food vendors, artist CD sales and a family-friendly area with crafts and activities. Open 6:30-8:30 p.m., the family-friendly area will feature face painting; a balloon artist; inflatables provided by Fort Riley’s MWR; Sandy Candy; Manhattan Arts Center and Manhattan Public Library arts and crafts; K-State’s  Willie Wildcat and a chalking contest with prizes including K-State Student Union Recreation Center bowling passes, Sunset Zoo passes and Flint Hills Discovery Center passes. 

The event is a collaborative effort between the Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department and the K-State Student Union Program Council, or UPC. Other sponsors are Fort Riley’s MWR, the Dow Chemical Multicultural Resource Center, Ag Press, Bluestem Bistro and Holiday Inn at the Campus.
