George Gottschalk selected as head of acquisitions and resource management

George Gottschalk has been appointed to serve as head of acquisitions and resource management at K-State Libraries.

George Gottschalk has been appointed to serve as head of acquisitions and resource management at K-State Libraries. Gottschalk's appointment is effective Sept. 18.

"Mr. Gottschalk brings strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people, including various staff levels, colleagues across campus and within professional organizations," said Joe Mocnik, dean of Libraries. "He has effectively shepherded change at the University of Illinois and he is very engaged with the American Indian Library Association, the Joint Council of Librarians of Color, the American Library Association and other professional organizations. Please join me in welcoming him to K-State."

As the head of acquisitions and resource management, Gottschalk will work with Libraries staff and leadership to further develop and improve collections.

Gottschalk previously served as the director of acquisitions at the University of Illinois and brings a variety of experience to the role. He also has held other positions in acquisitions and collection development at Rogers State University, University of Washington Libraries and the Oklahoma State University Medical Library. Gottschalk has served on several committees regarding library collections and improvement.

Gottschalk holds a Master of Library and Information Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in art history, both from the University of Oklahoma.
