Willie's Reading Wagon: Read. Lead. Succeed.
Approximately 30 Kansas State University faculty, staff and students will spend time volunteering to promote reading and introduce area K-6 students to various disciplines and majors at K-State in child-friendly dialogues.
Through the Willie's Reading Wagon program, K-State has partnered with the Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 school district's summer learning line-up for its 2023 summer reading program. Students who fill out a reading log can earn free books and other prizes. The program runs from June 5-July 27 at various elementary schools in Manhattan and Ogden.
Willie's Reading Wagon showcases the university's commitment to education for all and promotes a love of reading and learning among all children, especially those who may not otherwise have access to a personal collection of books. The program is sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.
