Nuclear engineering professor selected for panel at BEST-Rad Summit

Submitted by Walter McNeil

Walter McNeil, associate professor in the Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, has been selected for the panel review of the Built Environment Surveillance Testbed — Radiological Hazards Summit, or BEST-Rad, event led by Idaho National Laboratory and the Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Incident Policy and Cooperation.

BEST-Rad Summit topics include the nation's test and evaluation capacity for building vulnerabilities and the mitigation of radiological risks within structures. McNeil will panel the session focused on "Capability development and validation of the Radiological Test and Evaluation Landscape."

The summit is part of a larger effort to ensure the nation has the capability to test, train and develop technology to address radiological disasters and threats.
