Submitted by Marcia Locke

Allison Louthan

Allison Louthan, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences' Division of Biology, has been elected as a 2023 Early Career Fellow of the Ecological Society of America, the world's largest community of professional ecologists.

The society, which has 9,000 members, is committed to advancing the understanding of life on Earth. Its Early Career Fellowship program recognizes members who, within eight years of doctoral training, have advanced ecological knowledge and applications and shown promise of continuing to make outstanding contributions. Louthan is one of 10 new fellows.

Louthan is a population and community ecologist interested in the effects of species interactions and climate change on population dynamics. Her current research is focused on geographical variation in effects of environmental drivers, including how climate might modulate effects of species interactions on population dynamics.

The fellows will be celebrated during a ceremony at the society's annual meeting in Portland, Oregon.
