Justin Frederick appointed interim director of the Office of Institutional Equity
Justin Frederick was appointed as the interim director of the Office of Institutional Equity, effective Monday, Sept. 5, by Kevin Nalette, interim chief of staff. The previous director, Stephanie Lott, accepted a position at another firm.
"I am excited to have Justin join our team as interim director," Nalette said. "I've had the pleasure of working with Justin in the past, and his experience in previous roles provided him with the tools necessary to succeed right from the start. Stephanie did an incredible job as director, and I'm thankful for the time and effort they put into the position. They led their team to an incredible turnaround, and I can't thank them enough."
Frederick joins the team from the Office of Student Life where he was an assistant dean. Frederick's role in the office included supervision of the Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE office, supervision of the Military Affiliated Resource Center, nontraditional populations, and working with students in the colleges of Agriculture and Arts and Sciences.
Before his work in the Office of Student Life, Frederick spent his professional career in the field of student housing, serving in a variety of roles, including complex director, assistant director and associate director. Frederick earned his Master of Science in college student personnel from the University of Central Missouri and his Bachelor of Science in social work from Pittsburg State University.
"I'm very thankful for this opportunity to lead the team at OIE and continue the important work of the office," Frederick said. "The work is vital to our community."
The university will announce a national search for the permanent director position once the new vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in named and arrives at K-State. The vice president will assume leadership responsibility for the Office of Institutional Equity and will be charged with hiring the new director.
