Legislative Update

This is the final week for bill hearings in both the House of Representatives and Senate for the 2022 legislative session. All bills need to be reported out of legislative committees by Friday, March 18, in order to be considered on the floor of either chamber. Below are hearings and committee meetings of interest to higher education and Kansas State University this week.

Tuesday, March 15, and Wednesday, March 16
Budget Deliberations
House Appropriations Committee, 9 a.m.
Tuesday, March 15
Bonnie Rush, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University
Testifying in support of HB 2605 “Regarding the College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Program"
Senate Agriculture Committee, 8:30 a.m.

Wednesday, March 16
Ethan Erickson, chief financial officer and interim vice president and chief operations officer,
Kansas State University.
Testimony in support of Senate Bill 450 process to dispose of state property
House Committee on Insurance and Pensions, 3:30 p.m.

The Kansas Legislature will provide virtual access to committee meetings and floor action throughout the 2022 legislative session. Links to access the meetings can be found at kslegislature.org/li.

The Office of Government Relations will provide virtual weekly Legislative Updates through the remainder of the Legislative session, which is scheduled to adjourn in early May. The updates will be from noon to 1 p.m.
on Fridays by Zoom.
