Sean Farris to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar

Sean Farris, assistant professor in the anesthesiology and perioperative medicine and biomedical informatics departments at the University of Pittsburgh, will present "Novel Inroads into the Neurobiology of Alcohol Use Disorder" for the next Anatomy and Physiology Seminar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, via Zoom.

Farris received his doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University under the mentorship of Michael Miles and completed postdoctoral training at the Waggoner Center for Alcohol and Addiction Research at the University of Texas, Austin under the mentorship of Adron Harris.

Farris' research has been continuously funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse and the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, including receiving a prestigious NIH Pathway to Independence Award. His research has been recognized with the Young Investigator Award from the International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism, the Enoch Gordis Award from the Research Society on Alcoholism and the George Koob Award from the International Drug Abuse Research Society. Starting his independent laboratory in March 2020, his research is focused on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms for alcohol use disorder.
