Advisor Forum announces August Charlie Award

Submitted by Katelin Christianer-Donkers

The K-State Advisor Forum announces that Chloe Wallace, academic advisor for the Division of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been selected for the August Charlie Award.

Wallace was nominated by Eve McCulloch for this award because she is called an outstanding advisor and colleague. She has worked at K-State for four years, and in those four years, she has been pivotal to transforming the undergraduate program in biology.

Wallace is praised for being thoughtful, respectful, knowledgeable, and compassionate in her interactions with the 200-250 students she advises, most of whom are in their first year.

Wallace has co-taught BIOL 100 Biology Orientation for First-Year Students every year since she started at K-State; co-founded the Biology Ambassadors, which had its inaugural year in 2020-2021; and helped design and furnish two new student learning and collaboration spaces in Ackert Hall, all in addition to her regular duties as an advisor.

As expressed by McCulloch, "Many students have told me how great Wallace is as an advisor. All Wallace's work is united by a common theme of promoting biology undergraduate student success." "At a personal level, I can say that Wallace is a truly fantastic colleague and a pleasure to work with. She is kind, ethical, and motivated to make biology and K-State a better place for students. I am proud to have her as my colleague and delighted to nominate her for this award."

The K-State Advisor Forum Leadership Team thanks Wallace for the great work she has done for the Division of Biology and congratulates her on this award.

For more information on the Charlie Award, or to learn how to nominate someone, please review the Recognitions page on the Student Success website. Once your nomination is complete, it will remain an active nomination for one full academic year. Nominations can be completed at any time and can be submitted by anyone on campus. One award will be given out at the beginning of each month. The Advisor Forum Committee will make the decision and deliver awards.
