Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account update

Submitted by Benefits Administration

The Federal Government recently passed the American Rescue Plan Act. Included in this were some updated provisions for Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts.

The State Employee Health Plan has implemented the following provisions:

Current SEHP members with a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account will be able to increase their maximum contribution to their Dependent Care FSA for plan year 2021 up to $10,500 — $5,250 for married couples filing separately.

Current Dependent Care FSA members may request an increase to their contribution through the Membership Administration Portal.

A tutorial has been made available to learn how to submit this change request.

New members enrolling in a Dependent Care FSA may elect to contribute up to the new maximum amount of $10,500.

Please read the full article released on the SEHP's website.
