What are your strengths? Find out during StrengthsQuest Week, Feb. 4-8

Committed to undergraduate education and the academic success of students, Kansas State University has partnered with Gallup to become a strengths-based campus in an effort to increase student retention, engagement and the overall well-being of our undergraduate students.

Hosted by the Advocates for StrengthsQuest, students will have opportunities to learn about their top five strengths and how to get the most out of those strengths during K-State's StrengthsQuest Week Feb. 4-8.

The week's events are:

Monday, Feb. 4

  • Strengths Advocates’ Booth — Vote for your favorite strengths in the K-State Student Union.
  • Strengths Philosophy — 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. Come and learn about general strengths philosophy with Mike Finnegan.
  • Your Top 5 — 4:30-7 p.m. in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. How often do you have a chance to reflect on the things that make you great? Drop in anytime to learn more from trained strengths champions on how to apply your unique top five to everyday life.
  • Strengths in Selection of Organization Leaders — 8:30-9:20 p.m. in 212 K-State Student Union.
  • Attend and interactive workshop with Scott Jones, assistant dean of student life, on utilizing your organizations strengths in order to select leaders and accelerate your team.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

  • Strengths Advocates’ Booth — Vote for your favorite strengths in the K-State Student Union.
  • Strengths in Greek Life — 1-2 p.m. in the K-State Student Union Big 12 Room.
  • Andrea Brown, director of Greek affairs, and Jenni Jones, assistant director of Greek affairs, will share feasible ways to integrate strengths into your Greek chapter.
  • Retention, Engagement and Well-Being through Strengths at K-State — 4-5 p.m. in the K-State Student Union Big 12 Room. Learn from Emily Lehning, assistant vice president of new student services, about how K-State can promote student success with retention, engagement and well-being through a campus that understands strengths.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

  • Strengths Advocates’ Booth — Vote for your favorite strengths in the K-State Student Union.
  • Majors, Minors and Strengths — Noon to 4 p.m. at the Academic and Career Information Center in 14 Holton Hall.
  • Stop by Academic and Career Information Center and visit with a career specialist to explore how your strengths connect with majors at K-State.
  • Using Strengths to Connect the Dots — 1-2 p.m. in the K-State Student Union Big 12 Room. Learn from Kiley Moody, coordinator of new student services, how to talk about your experiences while highlighting how you used your strengths to show what you offer a potential employer’s organization.
  • Leadership StrengthsQuest — 4-9 p.m. in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. Please RSVP for both nights for free at http://www.k-state.edu/strengthsquest/events for Tom Matson's, Gallup’s senior specialist, unique in depth workshop.

 Thursday, Feb. 7

  • Using Strengths for Your Resume and Job Search — 1-2 p.m. in Holtz Hall. Career and employment services will teach you how to apply your strengths to your resume and job search.
  • Leadership StrengthsQuest — 4-9 p.m. in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. It's the second day of Tom Matson's Strengths Educator Seminar.

 Friday, Feb. 8

  • Strengths Recognition Reception — 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in 123 Leadership Studies Building. Learn how to get involved with the integration of strengths on campus. Partake in the revealing of strengths champions 2012-2013.
