Dates for fall graduation ceremonies set

Submitted by Chuck Taber

Dear K-State community,

I am writing to share additional information about the adjusted fall 2020 semester academic calendar.

We are pleased to announce our revised plan to celebrate our spring, summer and fall 2020 graduates in combined ceremonies on Nov. 20 for the Polytechnic campus and Nov. 23 and 24 for the Manhattan campus.

The announcement on June 9 regarding plans for the fall semester indicated that university commencement ceremonies scheduled for Dec. 11 and 12 would be moved earlier in the semester. An earlier date for commencement ceremonies is consistent with our efforts to reduce risk for students, their families and their communities by reducing the need for students to travel.

The working group who traditionally plans university commencement ceremonies will collaborate with students, college representatives, medical professionals and other stakeholders to plan ceremonies that both honor our graduates and attend to the health and safety of our graduates and guests. While our COVID-ready ceremonies may look different from years past, we are committed to hosting a celebration of the remarkable achievements and diligent work of our newest graduates. In the coming weeks, additional information regarding the schedule of ceremonies and other updates will be posted on the commencement website

The historic circumstances of the past few months have required our students, faculty and staff to demonstrate a great deal of resilience and flexibility. Thank you for your continued patience, especially our graduates and their families, while we develop plans for commencement.

Sincerely,

Chuck Taber
Provost and executive vice president
