Ray Yunk new head of architectural engineering and construction science

Ray Yunk is the new department head for architectural engineering and construction science in the College of Engineering, effective Jan. 6.

Yunk joined the architectural engineering and construction science faculty in 2002 following a broad career in public and private industry in the construction engineering field. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Colorado; a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, accredited professional; and an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, or ABET, program evaluator.

He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in architectural engineering from Kansas State, 1988 and 2004, respectively. He is currently an architectural enginering program coordinator; has developed and taught multiple and varied classes; serves on various committees at departmental, college and university levels; serves as an adviser to undergraduate students, student groups and student competition teams; and represents the department and program with key constituents across the architectural engineering and construction science industry and academic community

Yunk replaces professor David Fritchen who will return to an academic post within the architectural engineering and construction science department, as well as serve as project manager for the College of Engineering and its involvement with the University Engineering Initiative Act.
