Submitted by College of Health and Human Sciences

personal financial planning

A new initiative in the personal financial planning program will award $1,000 scholarships to 10 K-State students who declare the Kansas insurance certificate and enroll in their first certificate course for spring 2020.

These scholarships are provided through the support of the Financial Services Leadership Program and the Kansas Insurance Education Foundation. On-campus and online students are eligible for this scholarship.

"The opportunities for students in the insurance and financial services industry are endless," said Martin Seay, program chair for personal financial planning. "Students earning the Kansas insurance certificate will be in high demand, whether they want to be in the field as an advisor or in the home office supporting the business."

The Kansas insurance certificate is offered by the personal financial planning program in the College of Health and Human Sciences. The certificate meets the requirements set forth by the Financial Services Leadership Program in conjunction with the Kansas Insurance Department. The certificate requires four courses: PFP 105: Introduction to Personal Financial Planning; PFP 305: Advanced Personal Financial Planning; PFP 466: Personal Risk Management and Insurance Planning; and an additional elective course in topics such as retirement planning, personal investments, estate planning, or personal income tax. Read more about the certificate.

Students interested in receiving the scholarship should enroll in their first certificate course as well as complete the application. Scholarships will be awarded first come, first served.
