UPC has full lineup of events for Week of Welcome

Submitted by Hannah Ens

Welcome back, Wildcats! Don't miss out on free events and the opportunity to get involved with Union Program Council during Week of Welcome.

Week of Welcome kicks off with a pep rally starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Pick up a free goody bag from UPC while supplies last.

Make good health and wellness choices from day one of this school year with information and giveaways from UPC, campus resources and other offices at Health-a-Palooza, sponsored by Wildcat Wellness Coalition and Week of Welcome. Come and go from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, on Coffman Commons south of Hale Library.

You might become veeeery sleeeepy during a free performance by Hollywood hypnotist Kevin Stone at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom. Note that videotaping is not allowed.

Lunchtime is better with free snacks and live music. Munch on Insomnia Cookies while listening to the 1st Infantry Division Brass Band from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, on Bosco Student Plaza. In case of inclement weather, the Lunchtime Lounge will be in the courtyard on the ground floor of the K-State Student Union.

The Activities Carnival is a great way to learn about the hundreds of registered student organizations on campus. Visit the UPC booth from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, on Bosco Student Plaza for tailgate games, free baseball caps while supplies last, and free hot dogs, chips and smoothies while supplies last. Go Cats!

Following the Activities Carnival, "Avengers: Endgame" will be shown for free at 8:02 p.m. (sunset) Thursday, Aug. 29, on Bosco Student Plaza. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the film will move to Forum Hall on the ground floor of the K-State Student Union. Free popcorn for the first 200 people.

"Avengers: Endgame" also will be shown at 7 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31, in Forum Hall. UPC weekly films are always free for K-State students with current ID, $3 for nonstudents and $1 off with military discount or for children under 12. All showings will be closed-captioned.

Start the weekend off right by making new friends and playing games at the International Block Party from 7-11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, on Bosco Student Plaza — note the location change from Memorial Stadium. UPC, in conjunction with the K-State Alumni Association, International Coordinating Council, International Buddies, and personal financial planning program, combine to bring you this fun, free night of DJ-spun international music, dancing, cultural booths, cultural snacks while supplies last, bouncy house, mini-golf, Cash Cube and lawn games. Meet your Student Governing Association representatives when you arrive. A big travel prize will be given away to a lucky K-State student.

The fun continues the second week of classes with the poster sale, first UPC All Meeting of the semester, self-defense class, trivia night and four chances to watch "Rocketman" in Forum Hall!
