Three from Global Campus present at 2019 Higher Learning Commission annual conference

Submitted by Grant Guggisberg

K-State Global Campus was represented at the 2019 Higher Learning Commission, or HLC, annual meeting April 5-9, giving the presentation, "Access to Degree Completion Utilizing Effective Partnerships."

The theme for the annual meeting was "Roadmaps for Student Success" with the Global Campus presentation focused on articulation and advising. Presenters were Duane Dunn, associate dean for operations and community outreach, Jennifer Pfortmiller, admission and enrollment coach, and Beth Stuewe, DirectLink coordinator.

Global Campus monitors more than 120 transfer articulation agreements for students to complete a bachelor's degree through online courses at K-State. Additionally, DirectLink is coordinated through Global Campus agreements with all Kansas community colleges, resulting in collaboration of student advising between K-State and advisors at each community college.

These efforts are designed and implemented to assist students with a successful transition from the community or technical college toward completion of a bachelor's degree at K-State. More than 60 students are currently participating in DirectLink and more than 1,000 students have completed a bachelor's degree through the use of the articulation agreements. The HLC presentation provided attendees with information on how the articulation agreements, advising documents, and DirectLink procedures were established and utilized.
