K-State First seeks instructors for University Experience and Student Success CAT Communities

Submitted by Gregory Eiselein

K-State First

K-State First and the Academic Achievement Center are looking for qualified instructors to teach EDCEP 111 University Experience or a nonresidential Student Success CAT Community.

In fall 2019, the university will offer 11 sections of EDCEP 111 University Experience as a high energy, active-learning first-year seminar that meets twice a week. For first-year students only, the course is designed to introduce them to K-State and to teach them the skills they will need to thrive in a college learning environment.

Next fall's CAT Community schedule will include eight nonresidential Student Success CAT Communities. These learning communities bring together an engaging student experience with two general education courses and a one-hour connections course led by an outstanding instructor.

We are looking for student life professionals, advisors, or faculty at K-State who have experience working with new students and an interest in new student success. Instructors of EDCEP 111 will receive professional training, a stipend of $2,000 that can be taken as professional development funds or salary, and the support of an undergraduate learning assistant. CAT Community leaders also receive training, a stipend of $1,500, and the support of a learning assistant.

If you're interested in the position or would like to nominate someone, please complete a short application via Qualtrics at KSF-UE-CATCommunity-Instructor-Application and submit there also a short, one-page curriculum by Monday, Feb. 18. Alternatively, you may apply by sending a one-page letter of interest and CV to Gregory Eiselein at eiselei@k-state.edu prior to the deadline.
