Submitted by Office of the Provost

The Office of the Provost announces a national search for the next dean of College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. The university has engaged the services of Harris Search Associates, an executive search firm, to support the search process.

The dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine is the chief academic and executive officer for the college. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a record of visionary leadership who can advance the college through a bold vision of the role of veterinary medicine in discovery, research, teaching and global health. Primary responsibilities include leadership, strategic vision, direction and support for all academic programs and curricular issues in the college; high-quality student experiences; continued excellence and growth in research programs; faculty and staff development and oversight; fostering a collaborative culture with faculty, staff, administrators and students supporting the college's missions; effective fiscal stewardship and fundraising efforts on behalf of the college; strategic planning and management aligned with the college's K-State 2025 goals and excellence in education, research, clinical service and public engagement. The dean also has leadership and oversight responsibilities for the Veterinary Health Center and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory housed in the college. Reporting to the provost and executive vice president, the dean serves on the university's Deans Council.

The full position description, including required qualifications, may be found on the provost's website.

The search committee invites letters of nomination, applications (letter of interest and a vita), or expressions of interest to be submitted to Jeffrey Harris, managing partner at Harris Search Associates, at jeff@harrisandassociates.com. The search committee's review of materials will begin immediately and continue until the appointment is made. It is preferred, however, that all nominations and applications be submitted prior to March 1. We anticipate campus interviews taking place in mid-late April with the appointment beginning July 1.
