Under-market pay increases approved for classified employees

Submitted by Jennifer Gehrt

As reported by Sue Peterson on Tuesday, the Kansas Legislature approved the fourth year for under-market pay increases for classified employees, which were given to employees in various classifications in FY 2009, FY 2010 and FY 2011.

As in previous years, a pay increase will be given for employees in classifications which are the most underpaid compared to market rates and will likely include some classifications from all of the three employee groups as defined in the State of Kansas New Pay Plan.

Staff members in the Kansas Department of Administration are finalizing information about the classifications and amounts for the increases which are expected to be announced by the executive directive in the next few weeks. Under-market increases are expected to be effective with the beginning of the fiscal year, which is June 10 and paid July 6. The details of the executive directive will be shared by the K-State Division of Human Resources when it becomes available.
