Miller honored as Communicator of the Year

Submitted by Linda Gilmore

Frannie Miller receives award from Dean John Floros.

Frannie Miller, pesticide safety and integrated pest management coordinator in K-State's entomology department, has been recognized as the 2016 Communicator of the Year by the Kansas chapter of the Association for Communication Excellence and the communications and agricultural education.

Miller was recognized at the annual K-State Research and Extension Awards Luncheon on Oct. 27.

The selection committee commended Miller for her accomplishments, which include working effectively with specialists in a variety of subject areas to keep 22 pesticide applicator training manuals updated. Miller has successfully enlisted faculty support to develop and update publications; maintains the pesticide safety and integrated pest management website to keep the public informed of laws, regulations and training opportunities; and coordinates integrated pest management activities across all departments at K-State and delivers integrated pest management programs for the state of Kansas. These activities, and many more, keep K-State Research and Extension expertise in the public eye.

The Communicator of the Year award is presented annually by communications and agricultural education department members and the Kansas chapter of the Association for Communication Excellence, the international professional association for extension communicators.
