Submitted by Tara Fronce

Mandy Cole has been named director of administrative support services in the Administration and Finance unit.

Cole will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of the new administrative services department, redistributing workloads among employees, leading business operations and strategic planning for the department, managing staff and establishing and implementing departmental goals and procedures. Cole will begin her new duties Oct. 31.

"Mandy brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and experience that will be important as we develop a plan for shared services within administration and finance," said Cindy Bontrager, vice president for administration and finance. "I'm looking forward to working with Mandy in her new role as we take on this important initiative."

Cole currently serves as associate director in the Budget Office where she maintains the university budget and provides budget support to multiple departments. In addition, Cole also supervises the vice president for research's centralized financial services, payroll and accounting staff and works closely with Student Life to develop scholarship projections and models. Prior to her role in the Budget Office, Cole held positions in the Cashier's Office.

"Shared services will allow Administration and Finance to provide better service to our customers, be more efficient and to create new opportunities for our employees," Cole said. "I am thrilled to lead this new initiative and look forward to collaborating with leadership and staff to make this successful."

Cole received a bachelor's degree in political science and international studies from the University of Iowa.
