Union Program Council hosting filmmaker for immigration discussion

Renowned filmmaker, social entrepreneur and transformative speaker and trainer Jesus Nebot will present his immigration awareness film “No Turning Back” and discuss the issues it presents with the K-State community.
“No Turning Back” depicts a Honduran teacher who, after losing his pregnant wife in a hurricane, seeks a better life for himself and his daughter. As an illegal immigrant, he faces legal obstacles and ethical barriers in his pursuit to give his daughter the best of opportunities. The film, inspired by actual events, has won 23 international awards.
Nebot has developed programs in English and Spanish to assist purpose-driven individuals and organizations emerge as leaders of a more prosperous, peaceful and sustainable world. His expert areas include inspiration, transformation, oneness, conflict dissolution and sustainability.
A certified member of the National Speakers Association, Nebot was named one of The Top 100 Latinos on the Move by Latino Impact magazine. He has received numerous speaking and filmmaking accolades, including the 2009 National Speakers Association Connie Award for Excellence on the Speaking Platform and the Gold Star HALO Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Entertainment Industry.
Nebot’s presentation, sponsored by Union Program Council in honor of UPC Awareness Week, Hispanic Heritage Month and Community Cultural Harmony Week, is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the Main Ballroom, located on the second floor of the K-State Student Union. The film “No Turning Back,” directed by and starring Nebot, will be shown along with a forum lead by the filmmaker/actor following the presentation.
