K-State Summer Music Camp scheduled for June 12-16

Submitted by Don Linn

Registration is open for the K-State Summer Music Camp June 12-16. Students in grades 6-12 are eligible for the camp and local students are welcome to commute.

The students will participate in one of two honor concert bands, jazz bands and small ensembles. The campers also will have a lot of fun on campus, stay in the dorms if they are resident campers, participate in campus tours, be in a talent show and take two trips to the City Park pool.

The guest conductors for camp this year are Larry Blocher, Troy University, and Jay Gilbert, Doane College. The camp staff includes talented music education students at K-State, the K-State Band graduate staff and recent alumni performers and band directors.

The campers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, in City Park with the Manhattan Municipal Band. The final camp concert will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in All Faiths Chapel. The concert is open to the public and admission is free.
