Submitted by Mary K Pyle

Joe Milostan has been named study abroad director for the Office of International Programs.

Working at K-State since 2009 first as a study abroad advisor, Milostan served as assistant director in 2012 and was named interim director in late 2014. While interim director, Milostan provided leadership to the campus community related to education abroad initiatives, managing the budget, creating and implementing the strategic planning for the unit and increasing the number of students participating on an education abroad experience to all-time record highs during the past two years.

"I'm thrilled that Joe has accepted the position of director," said Grant Chapman, assistant provost for international administration for the Office of International Programs. "The Study Abroad Office has experienced substantial growth in study abroad numbers and opportunities over the past several years under Joe's leadership and we are excited about Joe moving our program forward."

"I am very pleased to accept the study abroad director position at K-State and am excited to build on the significant progress we've made during my time as interim director," Milostan said. "Education abroad is on an upward trajectory at K-State, and I am excited for the potential for further growth and improvements at K-State."

Prior to joining K-State, Milostan served as the study abroad outreach coordinator at Western Michigan University. He received his bachelor's degree in English from Michigan State University where he capitalized on international opportunities to explore his family roots in Poland and participated in a study abroad trip to Florence, Italy.

After graduating from Michigan State, Milostan earned his TESOL certificate in Madrid, Spain, while teaching English to business classes for two years.

Milostan earned his master's in international education at the School for International Training Graduate Institute where his final project was creating an international internship program designed for students to intern in Australia for the summer.
