College of Human Ecology graduate and undergraduate research forum winners

The College of Human Ecology holds research and creative inquiry in high regard and recently sponsored two events for undergraduate and graduate students to present and discuss their research.

Twenty-six students representing master's and doctoral programs presented their research April 16 at the College of Human Ecology's Graduate Student Research and Creative Inquiry Forum and five undergraduate students participated in the college's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Competition May 3. Both the graduate student forum and undergraduate student competition were judged by faculty members from the college.

Top presenters for the College of Human Ecology's Graduate Student Research and Creative Inquiry Forum:

• Brooke Cull, food, nutrition, dietetics and health, "On-site and Online Girl Scout Leader Wellness Training for Physical Activity in Troop Meetings," under the supervision of David Dzewaltowski, Richard Rosenkranz and Sara Rosenkranz.
• Sam Emerson, food, nutrition, dietetics and health, "Size and Timing Matter: Differential Triglyceride Responses to Three Meal Conditions," under the supervision of Mark Haub and Sara Rosenkranz.
• Jiyoung Kim, food, nutrition, dietetics and health, "The Impact of Physical Activity and Resistant Starch on Gut Fermentation," under the supervision of Mark Haub and Sara Rosenkranz.
• Stephanie Kurti, kinesiology, "Post-prandial exhaled 8-isoprostane responses to meals of varying caloric and fat content in nonasthmatic, insufficiently active men," under the supervision of Craig Harms and Sara Rosenkranz.

Winners of the College of Human Ecology's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Competition were Jordan Clipson and Claudia Tedoni, family studies and human services, for their poster, "To Disclose or Not To Disclose: The Role of Emotional Disclosure in Romantic Relationships," under the supervision of Jared R. Anderson and Josh Novak.

Undergraduate poster submissions:

• Sarah Colburn, Kathryn Crimm and Joanna Greenwell, family studies and human services, presented "Communication as a Promotive Factor for Resiliency in Post-Divorce Nonresidential Parent-Adolescent Relationships," under the supervision of Melinda Markham.
• Mia Taylor, kinesiology, presented "Barriers to Healthy Behaviors Among Military Spouses," under the supervision of Emily Mailey.
• Chelsea Turner, communication sciences and disorders, presented "A Qualitative Analysis of Client Response to Use of a Stuttering Technique," under the supervision of Kristin Pelczarski.
• Yesenia Perez, communication sciences and disorders, presented "Parents' Ability to Report Developmental Speech and Language Patterns of Young Children," under the supervision of Debra Burnett.
