Position, search committee announced for the director of the Honor and Integrity System

The provost’s office invites applications and nominations for the position of honor and integrity system director. Anticipated appointment is expected to begin in early July.

This position carries a half-time, nine-month appointment, plus one month of summer support. Eligible applicants must hold a tenured faculty appointment in an academic unit of the university. Experience with any of the following processes would be valuable: investigating honor code violations, adjudicating a hearing, interpreting university policies, and/or fiscal management responsibilities. The initial appointment will be for three years with yearly annual evaluations and a comprehensive review in the third year. Reappointment to subsequent three-year terms is dependent upon successful performance. 

Responsibilities include:

*  Communicating and promoting the Honor and Integrity System to the K-State academic community,
*  Receiving violations of the Honor Code and informing students of their rights,
*  Appointing case investigators and hearing panelists, 
Determining whether alleged violations should proceed to a hearing,
*  Preparing hearing panel scripts and arranging for audio recordings of hearings,
*  Reporting hearing panel findings, 
*  Maintaining all Honor and Integrity System records, 
*  Reviewing the Honor and Integrity System’s constitution, investigation and hearing panel procedures annually,
*  Reporting annually to the Provost and Senior Vice President, Faculty Senate, Student Senate and Graduate Council, 
 *  Serving as an ex-officio member of the Honor Council, 
 *  Maintaining a training program for members of the Honor Council, 
 *  Maintaining the Academic Integrity course as a key component to student moral development, 
 *  Maintaining Honesty and Integrity Peer Educators – or HIPE – as a student organization that promotes academic integrity,
*  Serving as a non-biased intermediary between faculty and students,
*  Supervising the associate director and student employees, and
*  Managing the budget and approving expenditures for the Honor and Integrity System office.

Candidates should submit a letter of application describing relevant administrative experience, curriculum vitae, and the names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of at least three references with direct knowledge of the candidate’s career and experience. Candidates should inform their unit supervisor of their interest in the position prior to submitting an application.

April Mason, provost and senior vice president, has appointed the search committee for the internal search to find the next director of the Honor and Integrity System.

Steve Kiefer, director of the University Honors Program, will chair the search committee. Mason will deliver the charge to the group this week and outlining her expectations and the search process timeline. This will be an internal search and we expect that the preliminary work of this search committee will be completed by the beginning of April so that an appointment can be made by July 1.
